According to her revelation, she started participating in the competition at the age of 17 years. Since then, she has not relented in her effort to make her dream come through.

Casting auditions were held in 14 African countries - Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe with the last search stopping in Ghana and South Africa on the same day of the 23rd. Tayla Robinson, 15 years old of Johannesburg, South Africa won the crown last week, with Miss Teen Honduras Melba Doblado as 1st Runner Up, Miss Teen Canada Siera Bearchell as 2nd Runner Up, Miss Teen United States Michelle Leonardo as 3rd Runner Up, and Miss Teen Poland Erica Szymanski as 4th Runner up.
Tayla is a 10th grader, currently attending Florida High School.
